You cant get the stats needed for getting the Gems required.
This is what I mean. Can you get enough light from 3x T2 Crystal items and 2 rad Cosmic lessers and a Stellar Cosmic Emp gem to do damage in U10?

they could raise the light from Crystal gear, but we'll still need to pop some radiant gems from U9 which would be fair considering we'll have the cosmic empowered stellar

    Thanks, I'm looking into it.

    U8 1550L for dmg cap (99.88%), U9 3000L for dmg cap (99.72%), U10 5000L for dmg cap (99.52%).

These are the values for when you start doing damage in Geode:

1011 light to do damage in U9
3016 light to do damage in U10

From what I've heard in PTS global chat, the amount of light needed may depend on how much damage you do normally. Several people have reported being able to do damage in U10 below 3k Light; the amount needed seems to vary between 2k and 3k. One person with a fairly high damage per hit (including both PD and CD) was able to do damage to U10 enemies with just over 2k, while someone else with roughly the same light but noticeably less damage per hit couldn't.

Someone else speculated that just having a crystal weapon matters significantly more than the actual light it gives or how much light you have from other sources, and you could have the light necessary to deal damage normally through Cosmic gems and still would do nothing until you equip a crystal weapon.

Maybe there should be a Light requirement to enter U9 and U10 Topside. It would make sense in organically introducing the concept that Light damage is required to do damage to enemies in higher difficulties, as well as guiding people in what to expect difficulty wise.

This may make this requirement mathematically hard to hammer out, however.
