Suggestion: Other way of obtaining Dragon Coins

Make the dragons drop them. Thallasion, Flakbeard, Dracocolatl, and any other farmable dragon. That or they could drop lesser dragon caches. Like that's their treasure or something. Dragons always have a treasure. The dragons are rare enough so that I think it would be fair.

This would be epic, especially since that new NPC that'll come out in December uses DC's to trade!
Making them drop from world dragons (and the dragon-themed bosses in Dragonfire Peaks) would be great!
Maybe the base is 1 and it goes up a bit in each world (U9 giving 5 - 10)
Or a way to craft them.
Or just make them tradeable again.
OR BEST YET DO IT ALL!
I'm Mastery 395 (Was 450+ before patch) and got ALL classes to 10.5k+. That's about all you need to know about me in Trove.
Main is SH, got 21,560 PR on it
I use Rev in ST's 20,814 on him.
    Yeah that's about it...

I feel a better way to implement that is to have the dragon fragments deconstruct into DC's. That way it gives a nice reward for getting extra fragments, instead of a measly 400 flux. Especially the newer dragons whose frags have that notoriously low drop rate. 1-3 DC per frag sounds reasonable, not too overpowered and still makes the hourly challenges the main way to get DC's. I do agree that keeping DC's a time-gated item with a time-gated merchant coming is a recipe for disaster.

Currently you need 11,000 dragon coins to make all the dragons. (not including the 3 new ones from adventures) Lets say on average you get 5 coins an hour from the challenge. (this is being generous and to keep the math easy lol.) So it would take 2,200 hours to get all the dragon coins you need to craft the dragons. Not taking the 25 you get from the tome each week. Lets say you play 5 hours a day doing each challenge. It will take you 440 days to get all the coins you need. Time gating is one thing but this is ridiculous! There needs to be a way to farm them.

With this new vendor coming out... (not sure how that is going to work) but it's going to force new players to choose between getting the dragons or getting that rare thing from the vendor. Prolonging the already over a year long grind. It's such a daunting process for new players. I'm not complaining because I want to benefit from a change. I already have all the dragons. But it's really hard to get any of my friends into the game when...
1: I can barely help them. (nothing of real use is tradable)
2: The main ways to progress are locked behind ridiculous time gates.

I like this idea. I think we just need a new crating bench that allows you to convert fragments to DCs. Like 50 fragments could be converted into 25 or 50 DCs. I think this would allow players to be able to grind for dragons and provide more variation to Troves end game grinding. It would also make dragons even more of a world event since they would be useful to all players. Currently, it's not really worth trying to get fragments if you already have the fragment dragons since you only get 400 flux per fragment. I definitely would like to see a change here.

I agree that there needs to be a supplemental way of getting dragon coins, as Luxion's biweekly visits will only further the gap between those that have excess and those that dont.

Not sure OP is the way to go however.

Don't forget that you can buy 5 Dragon Coins for 500 cubits from the store. Long time players like me have thousands of Cubits stocked (256K I think it was). The newer players do not. but isnt it supposed to be a dilemma on what you spend your resources on as you advance?

Personally I don't agree that the Dragon coins need another way. You can farm the challenges. IMO, that is enough. Granted that today you cant buy lesser dragon caches like you could a year ago, but you can still farm the challenges. The original intent was that the dragons were something that you needed to work for, not something that you can get in a day. and I disagree, 440 days (Just over a year) to get all the dragons isn't really that long of a time for the number of dragons that exist.

I agree with you but there are also a ton of items that people still need those cubits for. Dragon coins won't be near the top for a while and I don't believe they should be either. I don't personally think that we need a way to grind dragon coins outside the current method. We already have a way to earn dragons over time. They aren't intended to be something that people can farm large amounts of in short periods.

I was going to write exactly the same thing. There's just too many of them and obviously getting ALL the dragons is a long-term goal. If anything, Dragon Coins could more often appear as an event reward.

I just wanted to get a conversation started about this. I don't want people to be able to get dragons in a day. I want people to earn them but not be limited. If you could farm them instead of just once an hour. Even if farming them only results in an average of 5 extra coins an hour that cuts the time in half and makes it a bit more manageable. They would have to play with the drop rates a bit to insure you don't get them too fast... Another suggestion could be a fixture for clubs that makes them drop from the dragons or something... I'm not implying every dragon kill should give coins it should be an uncommon drop from them. The dragons are rare so having an uncommon drop from a rare enemy I think would be fair.

I like the idea of having them as rewards for events and stuff too. Anything that eases the burden.
