Thread: Best DPS Ratio On Gems?

    Best DPS Ratio On Gems?

I haven't crunched the numbers, but I guess someone probably has. For gem stats what are the best ratios for DPS. Is it just 3*** in MD/PD, 2** Damage 1 Crit %. or 1 damage 2 crit**

You have a grand total of 27 gem boosts available across your gems, assuming all your gems are damage/cd/ch, you'll want 15 damage rolls and 12 crit damage rolls, and make sure you keep an even split of boosts on your empowered gems. (either 5/4 or 4/5)

You most likely won't need any boosts to CH% now that the new rings also add 4%

Most of the time you can simplify dps = some constant * base damage * (crit hit * crit damage + 10000) where 700 * crit hit + 70 * crit damage + base damage remains constant and crit hit <= 100. You can find out your base damage by mousing over your magic damage or physical damage on your stat sheet depending on your class. Using Calculus such as Lagrange multipliers, you can optimize dps by achieving a balance: crit damage = 10 * crit hit and base damage = 700 * ((crit hit)^2 + 1000) / crit hit. For example, 100 crit hit, 1000 crit damage, and 77000 base damage optimizes dps when your pr remains constant for those amounts of stats. If you already have 100 crit hit, then all you need to balance is base damage = 70 * crit damage + 7000.

For Neon Ninja, the dps formula is different because a stage 3 shuriken receives a 2.5 multiplier to crit damage. Assuming there are 3 basic attacks per shuriken and excluding other sources of damage such as beamers and the 250 base attack damage, dps = some constant * base damage * (107 * crit hit * crit damage + 500000). Optimization occurs when crit damage = 10 * crit hit and base damage = 700 * (107 * (crit hit)^2 + 50000) / (107 * crit hit). If you have 100 crit hit, then just balance base damage = 70 * (107 * crit damage + 5000) / 107.

Regarding boosts for gems: 3 boosts to an empowered gem or class gem is approximately equal to 4 boosts on a normal gem. 266.66 * 3 = 799.98 and 200 * 4 = 800. This means you can have different combinations of boosts and still achieve the same result. For example, currently a max pr gunslinger or fae needs 4 boosts to md and 5 boosts to cd on empowered/class gems and 11 boosts to md and 7 boosts to cd on normal gems. Let's simplify that to 4/5/11/7. Other combinations are 1/8/15/3 and 7/2/7/11. Keep in mind that this can change as they add more stuff to the game. The new st dragon gives 500 md and 0.3 ch. Assuming they don't make further changes, 3 new dragons from the next major update will give a total of 750 pd and 10 cd. Fixtures can give up to 100 cd, 10 ch, and15% md/pd. Stellar rings can give over 5565 md/pd and more crit hit...I don't know the maximum values. Mastery could be changed to give 0.15% md/pd per level.

stellar rings start at a 5 star stellar weapon value, 5435 dmg and increase 130 dmg per level, so a lv 5 is 5955, lv 5 crit is 4.2. The seconardy stats don't move too much between levels 2 and 4. The new MR400, 46,650 points, matches the old MR300s dmg bonus, as you say, .15% per level on PTS.

how are we supposed to calculate mr after the update from points? currently it's points / 100 + 9; how will it be after this patch?
