Lightbulb Top Mastery and suggestion for smoother Mastery Progression beyond MR 300

Let's get straight to the point:

    The Issue
According to the Producer's Letter, top mastery players are expected to reach the mid-500s with this update, which, unless I'm misunderstanding, means a Mastery Rank of about 550. This, however, is clearly not the case. Not even close. Current top mastery players barely reach beyond MR 500.

In fact, to get to MR 550, you would need about 82,000 mastery points, about 10,000 more than the current top players have. (Also, you'd need about 96,000 for 600, which, to be fair, is kind of ridiculous, at least from our current standpoint.)

    The Suggestion
I'm not going let this sink in without a suggestion though:
Change the required mastery points per rank from 300 onwards to be MR/2-50 rather than MR/2 (basically, 50 points less per rank than it currently requires). This does not only smooth out the mastery curve (100 MP from 300-301, increasing by 1 point every 2 MR), but also puts current top mastery players just a few ranks above 550.

Keep in mind, this is just a suggestion and I felt like offering my thoughts.

    MR/2-50 rather than MR/2
This works well when graphed, it keeps the curve the same but removes the sudden jump that 300 to 301 is

Wondering if doing MR / 2 from MR level 1 would be better and more congruent.
Total MP needed for MR 1000 with current system of MR / 2 after MR 300: 256,625
Total MP needed for MR 1000 with system of MR / 2 from MR 1: 250,000

This would also help newer players, if we do similar calculations for the current cap of MR300 on live.
Total MP needed for MR 300 with current system: 29,275
Total MP needed for MR 300 with system of MR / 2 from MR 1: 22,650

The requirement to get MR 300 is now much easier requiring 6625 less MP.

Plotted the running total mastery points needed for MR 1 to 1000 to see what that scaling is like, and also to see where the current top mastery people will be (roughly) once the cap is lifted, which is about Mastery Rank 510 if you are curious.

Top players have about 71,000 MP at the moment, MR 1000 will need 256,975, so to hit MR 1000 devs will need to add another 186,000 MP worth of items.
Scaling is interesting, MR 300 to 400 is roughly the same as MR 1 to 300, which holds true up for every 100MR up until MR700 where it goes to around twice that per 100MR.

Okay, so the reason why they can't do this right now is that they haven't designed stuff past 600, they don't have time to do it before the patch hits, you'd get alot of players complaining there isn't anything past 600 when there's supposed to, and keeping the curve high fixes that, maybe keep bugging them about it to change the curve next patch when they have stuff ready for 600-800.

Currently we get to keep gaining Mastery past the "cap" without any reward besides contests. They're taking contests away. All we're left with is the gold name for the top 2k people. So I ask, what's wrong with letting us have levels without rewards? We're already waiting every 10 levels to gain a reward an there's quite a lot of points needed to get from the current max to 600. That's a lot of time for them to fill in the rewards. It's not like we get to see the next 100 level set of rewards ahead of time anyway.

To the OP: I'm not so sure I like your suggested formula. While nicer, it still seems high. I'd much rather see less points to level and just more levels between rewards. To me, that would give me a greater sense of progression.
